No Umbrella Today???

When I told John Caden that we were going outside to play today, look what he automatically brought to the door with his shoes! His umbrella! After a week of rain, I had a hard time convincing him that the sun was out and that he really didn't need it today. :)

There's Nothing Sweeter...

... than a sleeping John Caden! Although even with his ceiling fan on high, he always wakes up in a pool of sweat (notice the water mark on his pillow). :( He must still be going, going, going in his dreams!

Praying with Scripture

Not long after Anna was born I began praying for her using Scripture passages. It started with a simple morning wake-up blessing song (incorporating Numbers 6:25):

"Good Morning, good morning, good morning Anna Leigh.
Mommy and Daddy pray that today you'll see--
the face of the Lord shining graciously on thee.
Good morning, good morning, we love you Anna Leigh!"

By the time she could talk, if and when I'd forget, she'd always remind me to "sing her morning blessing." In attempts to not forget and to remind myself to saturate my children in prayer more throughout the day, slowly I've been adding more and more scripture prayers by linking them to specific daily activities. And yes I do pray them out loud, so after hearing these verses over and over again, besides serving as prayers, they've also become a great way to incorporate subtle scripture memory into our kid's lives as well. So for this reason, for the most part instead of rephrasing them, I just pray them straight from the text. (Until I get the verse memorized I just leave the verse on a note card in the area that I pray it).

It's a work in progress, but here are the activities and verses that I've linked together so far:
