Up, Up, Up She Went


I couldn't believe how high Anna pulled herself up on the rope at gymnastics this week. This was the first time that she made it to the "red mark" When I asked her after class how she did it she said, "I guess God gave me the strength!" (I think a little bribery of two pieces of candy from her coach also offered some motivation).

Weekend at Grandparent's NC Mountain House

We enjoyed beautiful mountain views...
loved looking at black bears...
had fun playing in the creeks...





visited an old red caboose and train track...


picked apples at an apple orchard...


went hiking....


marveled at many waterfalls...


but the best part of all was getting to spend time with Gramma, Granny & Granddad!

After hanging our flag this morning, Anna and John Caden asked, "Why are we hanging it today Mommy?" What a difficult thing to explain to a 5 and 3 year old.

Staying One Step Ahead of Her Teacher

Me: "I says /i/ as in 'igloo.' What is another word that begins with the sound of /i/?"
Anna: "Ishmaelites"
Me: "Wow, that's definitely a good one...I was thinking of a word like 'in' or "ink."

Me: "Today we're going to learn to count by 10's to 50."
Anna: "Mommy, I already know how to count by 10's to 100. 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100."
Me: "Hmmm...well, so you do I see."

Me: "Our word for Word Time today is..."
Anna: (reading the card that I'm about to hang and pronounce) "Hibernate"
Me: "How did you already know how to say this word???"
