Anna Falkins, RN

Every night after I tell her "Good Night" Anna lays her clothes out on her bed for the next morning.  When I went back in her room last night to give her a kiss before I went to bed, I found her RN dress up scrubs on her bed and her alarm clock set for an early rising.  So special it made me feel to think that perhaps she was planning on getting up early and going to the hospital to be a nurse with me today.

Two Truths for a Homeschool Mom to Remember

"All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.”
Isaiah 54:13
(Whew...so glad to know that I'm not truly their main teacher after all--it is the Lord's responsibility)! :)

“Why in the world do we keep telling our children to be more Christ-like as if He was a ladder to ascend, to progressively strive to be more sanctified — when being Christ-like is about being grace-filled, not about ladders but about laying down and reaching wide? Christianity isn’t about growing good, it’s about growing grace-filled.”

John Caden's Debut

For many years John Caden has been "leading worship" for our family at home and has said that he wants to be a worship leader when he grows up (a worship leader on the weekends and a vet during the week). :)  One of the highlights of his week is going up and seeing Josh (the worship leader at our church) every Sunday after the service is over. (Josh is my hero--even though there's so much breaking down/packing up to do, he is always so gracious to get down on John Caden's level and spend a few minutes with him every week).

This past week our homeschool group visited a nursing home and John Caden took his guitar and played and sang "I Stand Amazed in the Presence."  Watch out Josh and Chris Tomlin--he's on your heels now to fulfilling his own worship leading dream!

Counting Graces #119

Since Tim wasn't home and it seemed so cold this evening, how could I say no when John Caden asked if he could join Anna and I as we read in her bed together? Anna and I were so absorbed in Robin Hood (which strange though it may seem for two girls, has turned out to be one of our most favorite reads of all times) that we didn't even realize that John Caden had fallen asleep right between us!
Once she realized he was asleep, Anna stared at him so sweetly (just like this picture shows) for the longest time!  After I carried John Caden to his own bed and came back to Anna's room to complete our gratitude journals together, her first listing for today was, "Being able to snuggle up next to John Caden tonight."  Yes, a special treat indeed...a moment not to be counted lightly by a sister who loves her brother dearly and longs for his sweet affection in return.
