Hudson Stances
Here is how he positions himself when the kids are eating at the island--chin propped on Anna's barstool and eyes intently watching for falling crumbs.
And here is his napping with toys tucked under his chin position. (He's learned to guard his treasures. They often go missing for weeks and turn up in a five year old little boy's closet who resides in our home).
He loves me, he loves me not
John Caden left this message for me ("I do not like you") on one of his workbook pages this week...
Yet the very next day, he took me by the hand and led me to see this message he wrote for me on the driveway. Such fickle love the boy has for me!

A Tale of Two Dates
This is the restaurant that Anna chose to eat at for her "Anna-Daddy date."
And this was the meal that she selected to eat while they dined by the fire on her "Anna-Daddy date."
And this, yes Wendy's, was the restaurant that John Caden picked for him and Mommy to enjoy an evening together.
I'm thinking for our next round of dates, we'll have to mix it up a bit and make it a girls' and boys' night out so that I'll get to stick with Anna. :)
"Soaped"
John Caden has really "taken a liking" to getting his hair cut at Miss Allison's. She is fantastic with him so I've decided that the drive every five weeks and money are well worth it! Evidently, however, after seeing Anna and I getting our hair shampooed when we go, he realized that he has been getting gypped with the squirt bottle hair cut that Miss Allison does for him. So today, out of the blue, he said, "Miss Allison, I think I've decided that I'd like to get soaped too, please."

Multitasking Dad
I love the pictures that Tim texts to me while I'm at work. Here's one from Saturday of him getting both of our boys bathed at the same time. :)

Oh, how he loves us
We are loved so very well by this little fellow. Anytime we return home, he gets so excited to see us that not just his tail, but his whole bottom wags as he covers us with knock down hugs and kisses before we can even get in the door.
When we are home, if he can't be snuggled up beside us, then he tries to find the next best thing--our clothes. Sometimes it's just one stray sock and other times it might be a whole pile (dirty underwear and stinky shoes included). It always melts my heart when I see him curled up next to our clothing, knowing that he chose being close to the scent of us over his comfy, cozy doggy bed.
Sometimes I feel that Hudson gives us a little glimpse of the love that our Heavenly Father has for us--an undeserving, unconditional, passionate love.
"The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession...It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you...but it is because the Lord loves you." Deut. 7:6-8

Little Corner of Happiness
This is how the shelves above my desk in our schoolroom look on most days throughout the year, but depending on the season, the bottom right little corner sometimes gets changed out.
We have our turkey and pumpkin that join us in the Fall,
a sled and snow-tipped tree in the Winter,
and our little bunny friend and greenery that brighten our room in the Spring. When John Caden caught sight of the bunny for the first time this week, a big smile lit up his face and he let out the sweetest, "Howww cuuute!" that I have ever heard.

Rejoicing in God's Covenantal Pursuing Love
Covenant Baptism
November 13, 2005
“Every
time we baptize an infant we bear witness that salvation is from God, that we
cannot do any good thing to secure it, that we receive it from His hands as a
sheer gift of grace, and that we all enter the Kingdom of heaven therefore as
little children, who do not do, but are done for.” ~B.B. Warfield

"The
covenant of grace is not a
fifty-fifty arrangement in which God promises you salvation providing that you
in your own strength give Him your heart. To be sure, you must exercise faith--God does not believe for you--but even that
faith is the gift of God and is included in the covenant promise. ('For it is by
grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is
the gift of God.' Eph. 2:8). In the covenant of grace God is everything. He
gives what He demands. It is God's covenant with man rather than merely a
covenant between God and man. It is a covenant established by God. He calls it
My covenant. ('And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.' Gen. 17:7)" ~William Hendriksen
