British Soccer Camp
Hopefully after spending a week with these coaches from the U.K., John Caden picked up a few more soccer skills and maybe a hint of a British accent as a bonus.
What better way to celebrate the culmination of camp than having a lunch date with Dad?!

Déjà vu
We've certainly been here before...thankfully, this time it's for a sprain from a rolled ankle on a front tuck and not a fracture from a fall from the beam.
I'm thinking though that she might be catching on to something...she gets a couple of pairs of new shoes every time she needs a cast and/or boot. (We have to find shoes with a sole that match the height of the boot/cast). Not a bad deal!

Laundry Shortcut
Well, the boy has outsmarted me again. Friday is laundry day for everyone in our household--or so it was until a few weeks ago when John Caden started requesting that he be allowed to wash his clothes on Saturdays instead. I soon learned why--he leaves his clothes in the dryer all week and just "lives out of the dryer" as he calls it rather than folding his clothes and putting them away. (Thankfully, soccer jersey shirts and shorts, which is all that he wears, don't wrinkle and who cares about wrinkled briefs anyway). It keeps startling me though, and perhaps brings a smile to my face, every Friday now when I open the dryer door and find a few of his clothes still in there.

Happy Summer Garden Days
Picking our first homegrown tomato of the season...
and popping the top of our homemade half-sour pickles rank pretty high up in being some of our most favorite days of the year.
Parade of garden edibles? When I returned from outside, this is how I found our harvest from today lined up on the kitchen counter (notice the two little blueberries in the middle). I'm sure the boy (John Caden) had a method to his madness.

Housecleaning Can Wait
This text from John Caden showed up on my phone this morning while I was cleaning. Sweetest text ever! Needless to say, I dropped my dust rag and accepted his snuggle invitation.
