Christmas 2020

And to never forget what a crazy year 2020 was...
For some reason we found that all our cookie cutters that we had had for 20 years except for the gingerbread man one had rusted. The motor burned out on my electric mixer while mixing the dough. And after two failed attempts at mixing icing by hand and a whole bottle of red food coloring later--we accepted the fact that pink gingerbread man cookies was as good as it was going to get this year.

COVID-19 Pandemic & Quarantine Memories

When I took this picture of John Caden playing soccer for his school's team back in early March, little did we know then that life as we knew it was about to come to a screeching halt for the next two months...
On March 12, 2020, while at John Caden's soccer game we learned that the world would be shutting down and going into quarantine due to the Corona virus.

John Caden and Anna had to finish their school year at home with distance online learning...
Which wasn't an easy task, especially with Anna taking her first ever AP class...
and mom working extra hours at the hospital (picture used with permission).

Tim converted the playroom into his office and worked from home.
Instead of playing sports in the evenings, we played board games...
and got caught up on the latest pandemic updates...
On Sundays, we watched church services online from our living room (at least Hudson could join us)...
And for the first time in US history, Easter was celebrated in everyone's own houses rather than in public gatherings...
With social distancing in effect, the few times we met up with family, we had to keep six feet apart...
Granna and Poppa left a box of goodies and necessities on our doorstep for us...
Because grocery store shelves were often bare and essential items like toilet paper and paper towels were hard to find.

Anna made thank you cards for healthcare workers and get well cards for patients...
Kids from the neighborhood stopped by with encouraging "Thank you for being a Nurse" signs...
Hudson had to spend a night at the emergency vet clinic for gastroenteritis...
Anna and John Caden tried to keep up with their sports at home...

Our weekly laundry loads dwindled down to nothing...
And we had to wear masks everywhere we went...

Mom got to see the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds do a flyover at Kennestone Hospital as a salute to healthcare workers...

And we all became a little more grateful for all the blessings of life that we used to take for granted.
