Subjective Grading Dilemmas

In John Caden's Draw-Write-Now  assignment, usually his drawing turns out very similar to the one that is pictured.

 

 

But today, I was quite surprised to find the following:

 Alligators? I'm not seeing the connection with owls. So do I give him a deduction for not sticking to the assigned drawing or give him extra credit for creative thinking? Or should I be concerned that his drawing might be reflecting an inner emotional disturbance and make an appointment with a child psychologist asap?  I think I'll just hope that he was simply being a boy and was merely wanting to add a little action to the scene.

Anna's Violin Debut

 

Anna has always wanted to play violin, so as of January we let her switch instruments. Today she performed in her first SoliMusica Academy recital.
