For some reason we found that all our cookie cutters that we had had for 20 years except for the gingerbread man one had rusted. The motor burned out on my electric mixer while mixing the dough. And after two failed attempts at mixing icing by hand and a whole bottle of red food coloring later--we accepted the fact that pink gingerbread man cookies was as good as it was going to get this year.
