Rare Opportunity

After a long day and a long car ride John Caden fell asleep on the way home. Considering that he doesn't take naps anymore and that he doesn't like kisses, Anna quickly realized that this was a rare opportunity to load him up!  Kisses in fact usually make him so upset that we have a rule that Anna has to ask permission from him in order to give him a kiss or hug.  When I opened the car door, Anna said, "It's Ok Mommy, I didn't need to ask permission because he doesn't mind them [kisses] while he's asleep." I couldn't resist--I joined right in with her!

A Week of Thanks

We had a lot of fun at homeschool this week making our "Thanksgiving Tree" and finding surprises in the pocket of our turkey chair backers.

A Moment with Mom

What a rare treat for John Caden to just come and sit beside me--a treasured moment for sure!

Shutterfly Christmas Cards

It's that time of year again---selecting a picture and card to mail out for Christmas cards!  Shutterfly is offering a fabulous deal this year--50 free Christmas cards to any blogger who writes a post on their blog regarding Shutterfly's products.  If you're a blogger and would like to participate, here is the link to Shutterfly's 2010 Holiday Card promotion.  Shutterfly has one of the best collections of Christmas cards that I've seen.  It will definitely be a hard choice to narrow it down to one card.  Besides their photo Christmas cards, Shutterfly is a great place for coming up with other gift ideas such as photo books, calendars and mugs. It's always fun at the end of each year to sit and sort through pictures from the previous year and see how Shufferfly can pull all your pictures together into a beautiful keepsake photo book.  Looking forward to mailing my Shutterfly Christmas cards out soon!

An Official Leaf Picking Weekend

Over the past few weeks, everywhere we go Anna and John Caden are constantly wanting to stop and pick up leaves.  We'll be going through the grocery store and I'll look down and see them each with a leaf in hand that they picked up on the way in, or I'll find leaves in their church bags after we get into church, or I'll even discover leaves under Anna's covers at night.  Since they enjoy picking up leaves so much, the idea occurred to me, why not have an official leaf hunt?  (It's a lot easier than an egg hunt, the leaves are already provided naturally by God)! So we gave them their buckets and let them search for the prettiest leaves they could find this weekend.  (I actually did have an ulterior motive---I need the leaves to make a Thanksgiving Tree for a homeschool project this week). :)
